Is the Stock Market Open on Columbus Day 2015?

No, some of the stock markets are open and some are not Similar to most businesses, the major stock markets in North America are open for trading on normal business days only but from Monday - Friday is not Holiday. In terms of holidays, both the NYSE and the Nasdaq have very similar schedules to that of the federal government's holiday schedule with a few exceptions:

-Neither the Nasdaq nor NYSE is closed on Veterans' day and Columbus Day (or a day in lieu of it).
-Unlike government offices, the Nasdaq and NYSE are closed on Good Friday.

Therefore, these exchanges are closed for trading on the following holidays:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday
Presidents' Day
Good Friday
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day

For all investors and traders with positions in foreign stocks, keep in mind that not all countries have the same holidays and foreign stocks may continue to trade on days that the U.S. markets are closed and vice versa. So we have seen that the columbus day is very big Event of America and other countries also but stock markret is a very vast and a large thing so the main main stock market are open on the columbus as so because many industries and large firms and companies are fully dependent on the stock exchange market.

Columbus day is a public holiday in many parts of the United states, but is not a day off in some states. Some government offices are closed because Columbus Day is still a federal government holiday. The day is a legal observance in states like Florida.
Many businesses and shops are open in states that don't have Columbus Day as a public holiday. Schools are not required to close but check with your school district or school calendar on Columbus Day school holiday closures. The same goes for post offices - check with your local post office.
