In 1937 this day became a federal holiday in the United States, but people have celebrated Columbus festival from the colonial period. In 1792, New York City and other U.S. cities celebrated the 300th anniversary in 1792.Teachers, preachers, poets and politicians used Columbus Days to gain knowledge of patriotism during the 400th anniversary in 1892. These patriotic rituals were importance of loyalty to the country, and celebrating social progress.
