Happy Veterans Day Facts History - Interesting Facts About The Veterans Day

Wednesday, November 11th is the date for the Veterans Day this year . Last year it occured on Tuesday. So veterans is commonly been known and is been celebrated for the coming in of peace and ending up of the wars and all the killings of the innocent people who just came in between because they are mistakenly the citizen of that particular country.



World War II veteran Raymond Weeks from Birmingham, Alabama, in 1945 had the idea to expand Armistice Day or the Veterans Day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who died in World War I. The idea of National Veterans Day was supported by Dwight Eisenhower.  In 1947 Weeks led the first national celebration in Alabama and annually until his death in 1985. Weeks at the White House with the Presidential Citizenship Medal in 1982 was honored by President Reagan as the driving force for the national holiday. Elizabeth Dole, who prepared the briefing for President Reagan, determined Weeks as the "Father of Veterans Day."
