In 1945 World War II veteran Raymond Weeks from Birmingham, Alabama, had the idea to expand Armistice Day or the Veterans Day to celebrate all veterans, not just those who died in World War I.  By Dwight Eisenhower The idea of National Veterans Day was supported.  In 1947 Weeks led the first national celebration in Alabama and annually until his death in 1985.  In 1982 Weeks at the White House with the Presidential Citizenship Medal was honoured by President Reagan as the driving force for the national holiday.

Veterans Day is all about the celebration day on the cause of finishing of world war 1st on 11th November 1919. Veterans Day is an official and a legally decided United States federal holiday that is celebrated annually on 11th November, for honoring people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, this day is also been known as veterans Day. The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954. So this year Veterans Day will be completing its 61 years, with so much of energy and enthusiasm in the citizens of USA. This year Veterans Day will be celebrated in its grandest manner as it is the day in which war became peace and there was everywhere peace in the whole country.

While many realize that Veterans Day,  is a day to honor our Veterans, which always falls on November 11, few realize the historical significance behind the day. Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day and it marked the end of hostilities of World War I that occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.  Regardless of the day of the week the 11th falls on Therefore, the day is always recognized on November 11th . 

Veterans Day is the when all the people of the country get holidays from there own particular work they do and also many businesses remain close on that day. As they involve in the parades and all the activities which take place on that day of Veterans Day. The day is mainly celebrated for the conclusion of the world war I in 1919.
