Veterans Day Date - What Is Veterans Day 2015?

Veterans Day is on 11th November this year 2015.Veterans Day is an official and a legally decided United States federal holiday that is celebrated annually on 11th November, for honoring people who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces, this day is also been known as veterans Day. There is holiday on Veterans Day of most of the schools, institutions and government federation offices and also the shops and other retail stores. Veterans Day was first called Armistice Day to commemorate the ending of WWI. It was first proclaimed by Woodrow Wilson on November 11th 1919.  A day where we can hopefully take a brief respite from our partisan bickering to pay homage to those that made it all possible.

Although originally the Veterans is scheduled for celebration on November 11 of every year, in accordance with the Uniform Monday Holiday Act starting in 1971, Veterans Day was moved to the fourth Monday of October. It was moved back to its original celebration on November 11 in 1978. While the legal holiday remains on November 11, if that date happens to be on a Saturday or Sunday, then organizations that formally observe the holiday will normally be closed on the adjacent Friday or Monday, respectively.

The United States also originally observed Armistice Day; it then evolved into the current Veterans Day holiday in 1954. So this year Veterans Day will be completing its 61 years. A particular resolution was passed by the United States Congress on June 4, 1926, requesting that another proclamation should be issued by President Calvin Coolidge to observe November 11 with appropriate ceremonies. A Congressional Act (52 Stat. 351; 5 U.S. Code, Sec. 87a) was approved on May 13, 1938, which made the 11th of November in each year a legal holiday.
