Some citizens of the United States argue that Christopher Columbus and his crew were cruel to the indigenous people when they arrived in the Americas.And this is also one of the very big reason why some people don't celebrate this day. They think that Christopher did no good to the country, ans instead they harmed the people of the country.
Some people feels like Columbus Day should not be celebrated because the arrival of a group of Europeans who decided to take ownership of the land and unfamiliar jewels of the Arawak Natives.They think that the their is no joy in celebrating the death of native and it should not really be celebrated. First of all Columbus day is a Federal holiday because of which schools,offices and specially banks are closed on this day. It is celebrated on every second monday of October in America and even in some part of Canada, Spain and Italy.This day commemorates Christopher Columbus' first voyage and entering into the Americas on October 12, 1492.
